Siberian Husky: Training Them From Kindergarten

October 1st, 2008 · No Comments

Siberian Huskies are active and outgoing and they can play an important role in their new life amongst humans. Their most prized asset is without a doubt their temperament that is gregarious when amongst other dogs and friendly towards humans. The Siberian Husky also sheds quite a bit which means that he will require brushing regularly, and there should also be enough space for him in the home if you want to keep this active creature happy.

As far as Siberian Husky training goes, the first thing that its owner needs to do is to let the Husky know that he is the boss and also the alpha dog and his pack leader. Furthermore, before embarking on Siberian Husky obedience training, you need to understand that the best way to teach your Siberian Husky new tricks would be by imparting the training in a way that he can easily understand, because as a puppy, he won’t know what human behavior is all about.
The Siberian Husky needs to understand who is top dog and the leader of the pack and thus, at the very outset of your Siberian Husky obedience training program, you need to let it know that you are the master and that it should obey you. However, you must ensure that you are teaching it in a way that he can understand what you want, because he won’t know what human behavior is without your showing him what’s what.

It is also best to keep your commands the same for different behaviors that you expect from your Siberian Husky and once he responds positively to your commands, you can give him a treat to get him to understand better that he has done something right. At the same time, you need to know that dogs only live in the present and thus if he does something wrong and more than five seconds have elapsed, and you try and correct that action, he won’t understand just what you are trying to teach him. Thus, you need to time your Siberian Husky training instructions right and also be consistent in giving commands, which will ensure that your pet understands the proper behavior expected of him and will also not repeat bad behavior.
To get the best out of Siberian Husky training, and Siberian Husky obedience training in particular, make sure you use simple single word commands and say them only once. Also don’t ever try to correct your puppy minutes after he has done something undesirable, while it is ok to lavish praise and even give a treat whenever he does a desired action. Also, stay consistent, and don’t try and correct him for something that he did wrong and at the same time tell him to come to you because he would only get confused between two different sets of actions.

What’s more, you should never hit or even kick your Siberian Husky or strike him with an object or newspaper, because that will make him fearful or confused and thus lead to aggressiveness later on in his life. Also, you need to ensure that you use your best tone of voice when lavishing praise or even correcting your Husky.

Though the Siberian Husky looks powerful, he is in fact a softy and thus does not respond well if harsh training methods are used on him. The best way of succeeding with your Siberian Husky training is to start off when he is in kindergarten stage and to continue the lessons in order to overcome his somewhat stubborn nature.

Siberian Husky training can often prove to be fun and rewarding because Huskies are fun loving animals, and by teaching them to play games and using methods learned from dog obedience books, they will soon learn to shed their wayward ways and obey your every command. If you need information regarding proper Siberian Husky obedience training, then many dog training books contain what you are looking for.
