September 5th, 2010 · No Comments

A dog is not only man’s best friend, it’s also treated as part of the family. However, just as the safety of your family is a top priority the same is true for the safety of your dog. There is a problem though, when you have to go to work or school and you don’t want to leave your dog restricted t a small room.

After all, most dogs love to play outside too. That said, as dogs will be dogs you can be sure they’ll stray beyond the perimeter of your home at the first opportunity. In these circumstances, pet fences are your best bet for keeping your dog inside your property.

Let’s review some information about how dog fences work and what they can offer you to keep your pet insdide your property and away from danger.

What Benefits Do Dog Fences Offer?

Dog fences offer some advantages to you, but to your neighbors as well. When a dog is allowed to roam free, very often it goes into someone else’s house, and plays with their objects, maybe damaging or destroying them; people who find the dog might attack it and the dog might attack back in defense.

On the other hand, installing a dog fence will not only keep your dog from going into other people’s properties, but it will also keep their dogs from coming into your property and getting into a fight with your dog.

As all types of dog fences serve the same purpose to keep a dog safely confined to a specific area outside your home, you can expect the same beneficial results irrespective of the type of dog fence you install

What Dog Fences Can One Install?

One of the most humane and traditional dog fences you can install is made of wood. Wooden fences are notorious for their resistance to any kind of treatment as well as for being able to withstand extreme temperatures. On the other hand, wooden dog fences are expensive and require quite some work to install, and they might make your house look bad.

If you want something completely different, then you should try an invisible dog fence instead. Unlike wooden dog fences, invisible or wireless dog fences are relatively easy to install. Invisible dog fences use a cable with a transmitter attached to it, and are installed below ground, around the outer perimeter of a home. The transmitter sends out a signal to a dog’s radio collar whenever it comes close to the fence. Each time the dog hears these signals, it will avoid going any further. However if it continues to move closer to the fence, it will receive a mild, shock. The intensity of the shock can be adjusted if you are worried that it might hurt your pet.

Dog fences are a great and safe way to train your dog and keep it safe within the boundaries of your property. The sooner you install one, the better. Are they really effective?. They sure are.
